Divorce, which has become a frequently used word in our daily jargon, occurs for numerous reasons. There are instances wherein termination of an unhealthy marriage is deemed for the best interest of the family. Divorce undoubtedly is one of the most difficult types of relationships to be in.  Nowadays the rate of divorce (as found by examining the divorce records) are substantially on a peak thereby leaving a question in the minds of many; are marriages meant to be broken? Studies have shown that the length of any average marriage now is only eleven years. Divorce records show that the reasons for getting divorced can be as major as adultery or addictive behavior or as minor as abandoning dirty mugs or cups on tables and floors. Divorce is also accompanied by personal desires such as mid-life crisis, monetary disputes, and unsatisfied sexual life. It is usually a consequence of a slow drip, drip, dripping of small daily irritations over a number of years which results in visiting the solicitor. The other reasons for divorce are also cited as poor communication, financial problem, lack of commitment, infidelity, and dramatic changes in individual priorities. This may also be pertaining to premarital relationship, specific interrelationship dynamics, significant discrepancies, or physical, mental, and emotional abuses. It is proved that almost eighty percent of all divorces are granted on the basis of irreconcilable differences. Teenage marriage is another important factor wherein marriages are comparatively proven to be unsuccessful. People getting married between the age of 23-27 are matured enough to entered into a lifelong relationship whereas people in their teens lack the maturity to stick to a lifelong relationship. Studies have also shown that people who come from divorced homes are more prone to divorce as for them the concept of divorce is not at all a big deal.

However it is really hard to identify the actual reasons for divorce. If hundred people are asked about their view of a viable reason to divorce one thing is for sure each one will come up with their own answer. Moreover from a legal point of view, every government has different laws that define the difference between ‘fault’ and ‘no-fault’ divorce reasons.  It has been observed in most divorce records that usage of flimsy reasons for wanting a divorce is very common, and this is nothing but using a shallow reason as an avoidance of some kind. Chances are that they themselves are not aware of the deep rooted reasons. No court or judge refuses to give someone divorce as divorce is highly recognized by law.

The end statement remains; maybe it is time for people to be honest enough or to tell the truth “I was bored – simply bored”. We can not deny the fact that successful marriages demand lot of efforts from both sides and perhaps in today’s have it all and have it now society we have essentially lost the will or no longer see the need to try and keep trying to make a marriage work but to give in too easily to the temptation to head off and find a divorce solicitor.
