The world seems to be getting warmer and more people feel the need of an air conditioner. How does an appliance such as this manage to keep us cool indoors while we sweat outdoors? Technically, air conditioning can be defined as dehumidification of air indoors, to be able to cool it for thermal comfort. Simply put, it is any form of heating, cooling or ventilation to modify the condition of the air.
They can be divided into two applications. Comfort applications provide a cool indoors for human preferences. While the process applications provide an appropriate environment to organizational production processes. Here is a useful list to help you identify the suitable type of air conditioner to be able to beat the heat.
Window Air Conditioner: In this type of air conditioning, all the components are packed in a single compact box that can be fitted through a hole made in the wall. This is definitely the most economical and practical amongst all the types and the installation is extremely simple.
Split Air Conditioner: This AC is split into two parts that includes the indoor and outdoor unit. The outdoor unit consists of the condenser and compressor while the indoor unit consists of the fan and the evaporator. It can fit perfectly close to the ceiling of the room without a hole in the wall. It is so powerful that it can power even 2 rooms with one unit.
Packaged Air Conditioner: These are used to cool many rooms at a time. It is similar to the window AC in its mechanism and look. Though this type doesn’t need a hole in the wall and is much larger in size.
Portable Air Conditioner: These are mini air conditioning systems that are used to provide air circulation within a small room. A portable AC has wheels at the foot to make it easy to move them around. This is perfect for people who use very limited air conditioning.
Central Air Conditioning System: If you are looking at cooling an entire office building, then there is nothing better than the central air conditioning system. The gigantic condensers and compressors are placed outside. The cool air seeps in through valves made on ceilings or high walls inside the building. It uses small amount of power compared to a window or split AC and is also cost effective.
It is advisable to identify the rationale for your air conditioning need before purchasing one. Check for its power consumption and horsepower to be sure that your choice is ideal and cost-effective.
