Cleaning – Not A Rocket Science

A tidy home is a happy home, we all know it. And the cleaning chore is the tedious of all, which is also one of the distasteful truths. All of us believe in keeping our place neat and tidy, things organized and well in place, floors shining and windows stain free, but there is so much time and effort to sacrifice and it gives so little in return.

Here come few tricks and tips which most of us can benefit from.

Kitchen is the heart of home. It is a working place of many home makers and favourite hangout for toddlers. Cleaning of a house always begins from the kitchen which is prone to so many stains and marks.

  • Stained, cloudy drinking glasses can be cleaned by soaking them into warm white vinegar for little more than an hour.
  • To clean a coffee grinder, grind up a cup of rice.
  • On adding 1/4th cup of lemon juice in the dish washer, the dishes can be deodorised.
  • To remove the odour of fish after cooking, keep a bowl of white vinegar.
  • Place a water soaked paper towel on the unplugged grill after cooking, for 5 to 30 minutes. It loosens the grease which then can be wiped off easily.
  • Placing a cup of baking soda in the microwave helps getting rid from food odours.
  • Smelly sponges can be cleaned up by keeping them in the microwave for a short while after a thorough wash.
  • Two cups of vinegar if boiled in the tea pot or kettle, removes the hard water stains.
  • To make your old sink look all new scrub it with a lime peel after sprinkling a cup of salt over it.

Miscellaneous

  • Spray a little carpet spot cleaner and wipe it off with a sponge to get a clear glass shower door.
  • Scrap off children’s sticker from the wood by soaking it in to white vinegar.
  • Black and white newspaper dipped in vinegar can be used for cleaning windows.
  • Use baby wipes to remove the stains of motor oil or blood from the carpet.
  • Chimney can be kept clean using hand full of salt thrown on fire.
  • An open box of baking soda well absorbs the bathroom odours.
  • A barrier of cinnamon stops the ants from entering house.
  • To keep the laundry basket freshen up, sprinkle little baking soda at the bottom of it.

The list is endless. But if we pick a hand full of them and bring them into our regular practice, it will bring miraculous excel in our tidiness forte.
