Cut Energy Bills - By Up To 60% With A Windmill

With the shorter days comes another all too familiar sight...rising utility bills.  Even though energy prices have stabilized somewhat over last years rates, many of us simply aren't in a position where we can afford a huge electric bill.  There is hope, there are simple things you can do to cut energy bills now.

If you can take some time to make your home energy efficient by blocking up any potential leak and adding insulation, those simple things can make a huge impact on your utility bills all year long.

If you want to get ideas of what you can do to 'weather proof' your home all  you have to do is read this article for some simple solutions.

One of the first things you should do is to give your furnace a tune up.  Have it inspected by a professional to make sure it is running properly.  Also make sure to change the filters at last once a month.

Check for gaps around windows and doors.  Seal any holes with a foam insulating product or caulk.  Your local home improvement store will have everything you can dream of to close off any places where you precious warm air could escape.

Get, and use, a programmable thermostat.  That way the temperature in your house can be lowered automatically when you're not there.  You can also set it to raise the temperature right before you get home or before you get up in the morning.

If you really want to make a difference you can build your own wind turbine for a few hundred dollars. It's a simple project that anyone can do in a day or so.  It'll save you around 80% on your utility bills. 

So there you have it.  A simple list of things you can do right now that can help you cut energy bills all year long.  Just pick a few and go for it.
