How Do I Install a Door Handle?


If you are looking to learn how to easily replace a door handle then you have found the right place. Installing a new door handle is something that anyone has the ability to do. But before we get into the steps of installing a door handle let’s first discuss buying the right door handle.

Okay now there are other things that you are going to need to be aware of when you are buying door handles that are very important. You need to know which way that the door opens so that you purchase the correct door handle. Are the hinges on the right side of the door or on the left side of the door? But you also need to know if the hinges are on the outside or the inside. Remember this is very important and something that you must know before you buy the door handle otherwise there is a good chance that you will purchase the wrong door handle. And this is just a royal pain in the butt to have to go back to the store and exchange the door handle. There are some products that will have reversible door handles, but you will not know this until you begin searching, so it’s still important that you know which type of door that you have a right handed door, or a left handed door.

Now that we know how to purchase the right type of door handles let’s now begin to go over how to install a door handle.

First you are going to need to remove your existing door handle. So you are going to need to have a screw driver or a power drill to remove it.

Once the door handle is removed you can begin to attach the new door handle. The first thing you will need to put in is the door latch because the door handle is going to need to connect to it in order to open and close the door properly.

Okay now attach the door handles on both sides and screw all the screws securely into place. And you are done. Be sure to test that the door handle is working properly before you put your tools away.
And that is all there is to installing a brand new door handle or replacing an existing door handle.
