How To Build A Wood Shed - My Shed Plans

Every homeowner needs a wood shed. A wood shed provides storage space and protection for stuffs especially during the cold months. Like for example a wood-burning fire in the cold months, will be readily available whenever you need it. It can also be a space to stock your gardening tools, lawn mower, ladder, flower pots, and other things that you use outdoors. Construction a wood shed doesn’t take a lot of skill; in fact, this is an ideal project for a starting carpenter or a weekend worker. In creating your very own wood shed, you may consider ordering do-it-your-own plans or create your own design. Now to start off, you need to cut three logs to eight feet long and another three logs to six feet long, these will be the wood shed’s post, take into account that both ends should be flat.

For the shed’s facade, using a galvanized pipe strapping cut into size and 1 1/2-inch galvanized nails, attach the eight-foot-long logs perpendicularly to a twelve-foot-long log. While it’s on the ground, work on one side the frame and then roll it over and work on the other side. For the back of the shed, attach the six foot logs to another twelve foot log in the same way as the shed’s front.

Now, lay out six flat rocks in a two by three arrangement in the location where you want your wood shed to be built. The rocks must be five feet apart from each other. Put a scrap asphalt shingle on top of every rock. Then, stand up the front and back frames onto the flat rocks, ask a couple of helpers to hold the beams until they are securely in place. You will need five foot two-by four planks to secure the beam assemblies to each other on both ends of the structure using either nails or screws. Using scrap two-by-fours, attach bracing beams to the upper corners of the front beam assembly with a nail or screw.

To construct a roof frame, run two-by-four planks across the top of the front and back beam assemblies. Then, cover roof planks with plywood cut to size and nail down. After which, cover the plywood with asphalt-roll roofing and nail that down. Finally, on how to build a wood shed, using plywood and cinder blocks, build an informal shelf for the wood to rest on. It’s ideal to get the wood off the ground to aid in ventilation.
