Learn How to Change your Own Door

We all want to be able to handle most of the home improvement work ourselves, when it comes to our home. And there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to complete many of the home improvement tasks on your own, especially when the internet is filled with many Do It Yourself projects that allow you to follow along. Don’t get me wrong here of course there are things that are easier than other. When it comes to changing an old interior door it can be a very easy thing to door, or it can quickly become a very frustrating task if you don’t know how to properly buy the new door.

There are different types of doors that you can purchase and I want to explain this to you so that you do not get overwhelmed when you are at the store.

Some of the doors that you purchase are sold as slabs. Slabs are not going to have the holes in the door for the knobs. If you can avoid purchasing a door slab than you should. This can quickly become a very time consuming task, and the same goes for a door without the frame.

The easiest way for you to install your own doors is to purchase a door that is already on the door frame. This is the absolute easiest and quickest way for you to install your door whether it’s an interior door or an exterior door. All you are going to need to do is take down the molding to expose door frame, and then remove door frame that is nailed into the 2x4’s. You will need to have a few power tools to complete this task, which I am sure you already are aware of.

You can find a step by step procedure to follow along with by doing a simple search on the internet. There may even be a video tutorial that will definitely be much easier to follow along.
