You've taken care of your swimming pool all summer long and now that it's winter, the maintenance is year-round.  Even though the swimming season is over, that doesn't negate the need for keeping the pool  make in top condition for the upcoming swimming season. Pool maintenance professionals note that the number of pool repair follow a steady rise due to less than required attention to pool service. According to several pool contractors, only adequate protection could offer you the best pool conditions for the next season.

We offer these tips to keep your swimming pool protected throughout the winter months as a way to make your spring season opening a smooth process:

  1.  The pool filter must be drained.  Unplug the connection of filter to the pool. Make  sure to open the drain plugs of the pool-filter. Pool contractors have pointed out several times that absence of this measure has led many pool-owners calling for pool repair.
  2. The water levels of the pool need to be lowered. Pool contractors advise that you should use any pump attached with any of your hose-pipes for the garden usage. The level of water should be brought down even below the water-vents of the pool. This measure will save you pool repair issues at a later date. With this procedure you will have the water level which falls in between the filter and swimming part, area, having a continuous flow into pool. You can ensure the water lines do not get broken if they are drained.
  3. Swimming pool covers are crucial.  As observed by several pool builders, this has been one of the areas which most of the pool owners forget and results into sometimes costly pool service repairs. To avoid pool repair, you must spend some quality time searching for a high quality cover.

Take a walk through your backyard at least weekly to check on the condition of the swimming pool. Clear the snow or melted water off the cover to  make certain the cover isn't being dragged down by water and snow. Periodic checks on the condition of your swimming pool now will help keep the pool in good working condition and make opening the pool a more pleasant experience in the spring – which is right around the corner!
