Saving money and saving the environment are important to people, now more than ever, and you can do both at the same time. There is a cheap and easy way you can get electricity from the wind right at home by building a wind turbine.
I've found a lot of good information on wind power and turbines, enough to make me realize this is something I can do.
For one thing, the technology now has advanced to the point that even a small turbine can generate electricity to make it worth it to install one.
Unless you have a lot of money, or plan to stay in your house for many more years, buying a turbine won't be the best way for you to go. They are very costly and it will take you a long time to recoup that investment.
For only about $200 you can build your own. You don't need any knowledge or special tools and the parts you need can be bought in any hardware store.
If you build your own turbine you can often recoup your investment in a few months. If you decided to buy one, it would take years to get your money back.
To build your own turbine you will need to take three basic steps:
1. Buy a manual that has easy to follow, clear instructions on how to build a turbine.
2. Buy the parts you will need for your turbine.
3. Set aside some time to put it all together. Depending on how much time you can devote to the project, few days should be all you need.
I have decided that building my own wind turbine just makes sense. It'll enjoy knowing that I have some control over my utility costs from now on.
