Wind Power Will Cut Energy Bills, Will The Government Pay Me For It?

Posted: Nov 09, 2009 |Comments: 0 |

As fall is upon us, the chill down our spines can be far more than only the cool winds. Most probably it is the chill of your fear that you will not be able to pay your energy bills for heating these winter months! Well, the good news is, wind power will cut energy bills.

A stimulus plan from the government is helping home owners to make their homes more energy efficient. To qualify for the $1500 tax credit you must replace your doors and windows with the modern energy efficient models available. In addition to this, there are even some state governments that are giving businesses and residents incentives to make their own energy with wind turbines. And as wind turbines will cut energy bills, this looks like a very good alternative to me.

Now, of course, for this you will have to install a wind turbine on your property. Well, fortunately you can get very good wind turbines kits these days. Assembling one is easy. On the other hand, you can also build your own from scratch with the help of a good guide. This wind turbine tied in with some other measures will save you money. There is no doubt; wind power will cut energy bills.

Some of the measure you can take to make your home more energy efficient:

Leaky, poorly sealed and old windows and doors are normally responsible for most of the heat lost of a home. The technology for making energy efficient windows and doors has made a lot of advances and if yours are even only ten years old, replacing them will make a big difference.

OK, now you can say to me that tax credit or no tax credit, you still cannot afford to replace them. Fortunately, I also have good news for you here; there are cheaper options you can use to prevent the hot air leaking from your windows.

It is now also possible to buy window kits to fix your leaky windows with. Essentially these kits consist of a plastic sheet to put over your existing window and add another layer to prevent heat leakage. These kits are easy to use and inexpensive to buy.

So, I know these windows will still not be as good as the new ones, but at least it will be an improvement. It will still help you to lower your energy bill.

If it is possible for you, take advantage of the tax credit and buy new windows. If it is not possible, start with the other smaller ways you can use to save energy. It is best to get started now, and save now!

To conclude, do all the little things you can to save energy and if it is at all possible get a wind turbine as wind power will cut energy bills.
