Women In WoodWork : What Plans And BluePrints Should I Use?

Posted: Feb 06, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

If you have been searching for quality woodworking plans or blueprints that actually make common-sense to you, you will have discovered that they are really difficult to find!

There are literally hundreds of these woodworking plan / blueprint types listed on the internet, however, quality of detail and lack of specifics has become a real problem!

Let me explain:

QUALITY: A set of plans or woodworking blueprints MUST be of the highest quality!
Plans that are of a lesser quality will naturally waste your time, your efforts, and most importantly,  your money!

DETAIL: If the detail of the plan or blueprint is not best quality, you will again waste your efforts, and your money! The final result of your project will be heavily reliant upon the detail and quality of the woodwork plan or blueprint that you are working from. You are reliant upon it's quality!

You can avoid any problems by obtaining quality woodworking plans and blueprints that specify exactly what tools, materials and finishing products that you will require for the successful completion of your quality project.

PRO or NOVICE: There are both major and minor differences between woodworking plans and blueprints that have been developed for professional woodsmiths, and those developed for the novice, DIY, handyman, or home woodworker. Whatever your level of woodcraft, make sure that your project blueprint purchase includes detailed schematics, step-by-step instructions, and comment – preferably with video tutorage and instruction.

INTERNET or Street STORE: Searching for the highest quality woodwork plans or blueprints  can take a lot of time and effort, and the internet can easily become a maze of confusion and frustration!

Nevertheless, blueprints on the internet ARE better that store bought plans!

* You should receive an extensive range and selection of your required plans. These will come within your one package. Great value for money!
* You should also get a huge selection of additional project plans and blueprints – all included in your one time purchase – enough to ‘whet your appetite' for all your future woodworking projects and home improvements, to boot!
* The BEST product will also include full-color pictures, with thorough descriptions of every aspect of your woodworking project.
* You should also expect to receive full and complete video tutorials and step-by-step instructions and guides

Purchasing your woodworking plans and  blueprints from a ‘street store' WILL SERIOUSLY limit you!  Plans are usually purchased on a ‘per project' basis – absolutely NOT cost effective!
Rarely do they come with any form of serious instruction, nor comment. I don't think I have ever come across this type of blueprint that has detailed video assistance!

Generally speaking, once you have used your plans for your current project, they are so worn and degraded that they are virtually useless for any additional or follow-up project.

Next project? Back to the store to spend MORE money!

DON'T GET CAUGHT: Buying the wrong types of woodworking plans or blueprints will lead to major frustration and, again, probably a good deal of wasted time, effort and money!

Truth is, my husband has been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and he doesn't give his personal and professional endorsement to any product, EVER! However, on the one occasion that I did 'swallowed my pride' and ask him for help, he HIGHLY recommended one product, and one product ONLY. (Actually, I was quite taken aback by his candour!) So I am going to do exactly the same thing here, because these are the exact same plans that I now use for all of MY projects.

My husband Ken, is a serious woodworker... he's actually a carpenter, by trade, who just loves spending hours out in the workshop involved in a continual parade of projects. Well, a couple of years ago (totally depressed and suffering the onset of the 'Big M') I was desperately looking for a way to 'reconnect' and 're-visit' the early days of our marriage... you know... when we could barely be apart for more than the necessary hours of going to work!
