How to Find All Your Company Domains

"How can we find all domains registered by our company?" I seem to get that question quite a lot. You can either contact a company like ours, or you an read the following:

If your company has registered domains "as it comes" for years, then it is plausible that they been registered by different employees using different registrars. When an employee leaves the company (which can happen!), then there is a risk of renewal reminders being lost in the mail. As a consequence domains are deleted, and even worse when they are snatched by a 3rd party.

So together with arguments like ensuring formal ownership and avoiding trademark infringements it makes good sense to streamline the domain portfolio.

To get an overview of the company´s domains can be quite a detective work, but there is a great tool available on the web to see the actual number. Go to http://www.domaintools.com/registrant-search/. Here you can test for specific WHOIS details or part of a domain name. The easiest is to search for the company name, key contact persons and contact emails. You will have to order a report from them to see further details.

When you search for your company name or trademarks as part of the domain name it is likely that domains have been registered by 3rd parties. If local business partners are the formal owner, then contact them in order to transfer the owner rights. Regarding other 3rd party registrations you will have to evaluate from case to case whether it is worth chasing them.
