CompTIA Retraining - News

Four separate areas of study make up a full CompTIA A+; you're thought of as an achiever in A+ when you've passed the test for 2 out of 4 subjects. Because of this, it's usual for colleges to only teach 2 specialised areas. The truth is it's necessary to have the information on each subject as many positions will be looking for an understanding of each specialist area. It's not essential to pass exams in all of them, but we would recommend you learn about all four.

As well as learning how to build PC's and fix them, trainees of A+ will be shown how to operate in antistatic conditions, along with remote access, fault finding and diagnostics. It could be a good idea to think about adding the CompTIA Network+ training as you'll then be in a position to become a networking engineer, which is where the bigger salaries are.

Consider the following points in detail if you're inclined to think that over-used sales technique about 'guaranteeing' exams sounds like a benefit to the student:

Everybody's aware that they're ultimately paying for it - obviously it has already in the gross price invoiced by the training provider. It's definitely not free (it's just marketing companies think we'll fall for anything they say!) If you want to get a first time pass, you must fund each exam as you take it, focus on it intently and apply yourself as required.

Do your exams at a local pro-metric testing centre and go for the best offer you can find when you're ready. A lot of current training colleges make huge profits through getting in the money for exams at the start of the course and cashing in if they're not all taken. It's also worth noting that exam guarantees often have very little value. The majority of companies will not pay for you to re-take until you have demonstrated conclusively that you won't fail again.

Average exam fees were approximately 112 pounds in the last 12 months when taken at VUE or Pro-metric centres in the UK. So don't be talked into shelling out hundreds or thousands of pounds more for 'an Exam Guarantee', when it's no secret that the best guarantee is a commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools.

The market provides an excess of employment in IT. Deciding which one could be right for yourself can be very difficult. As having no previous experience in computing, how should we possibly understand what any job actually involves? Ultimately, the right answer will only come from a detailed analysis covering many unique key points:

* What hobbies you have and enjoy - these can reveal the things will provide a happy working life.

* Do you hope to reach an important aim - like working from home sometime soon?

* How important is salary to you - is it very important, or does job satisfaction rate higher up on your list of priorities?

* Getting to grips with what the main career types and markets are - and what makes them different.

* The time and energy you'll have available to commit your training.

To cut through the barrage of jargon, and uncover the most viable option for your success, have a good talk with an advisor with years of experience; someone that appreciates and can explain the commercial realities whilst covering all the qualifications.

Often, students don't think to check on something of absolutely vital importance - how their company segments the courseware sections, and into what particular chunks. Normally, you'll enrol on a course taking 1-3 years and receive a module at a time. This may seem sensible until you think about these factors: With thought, many trainees understand that the trainer's standard order of study is not what they would prefer. They might find it's more expedient to use an alternative order of study. Could it cause problems if you don't get everything done in the allotted time?

In a perfect world, you'd get ALL the training materials right at the beginning - giving you them all for the future to come back to - whenever it suits you. This allows a variation in the order that you attack each section as and when something more intuitive seems right for you.

Many people question why traditional degrees are being replaced by more commercial qualifications? As we require increasingly more effective technological know-how, industry has of necessity moved to the specialised core-skills learning that can only come from the vendors - that is companies such as Microsoft, CISCO, Adobe and CompTIA. This frequently provides reductions in both cost and time. Many degrees, as a example, often get bogged down in a great deal of background study - with a syllabus that's far too wide. This holds a student back from learning the core essentials in sufficient depth.

In simple terms: Commercial IT certifications let employers know exactly what you're capable of - the title says it all: for example, I am a 'Microsoft Certified Professional' in 'Planning and Maintaining a Windows 2003 Infrastructure'. Therefore companies can identify just what their needs are and what certifications will be suitable to deal with those needs.
