If you have decided to pursue a Cisco Certification, then CONGRATULATIONS!! You have probably made the wisest decision in your professional development. Recent statistics reveal that CCNA certified employees get also 10-15% salary increase, which is a nice salary addition for an individual in this economic crisis.
There are two paths to obtain a Cisco CCNA. The first one requires candidates to take a single composite exam (640-802 CCNA) which covers topics from two Cisco training courses (ICND1 and ICND2). With the second path to CCNA certification, candidates can take two individual exams, the 640-822 ICND1 and 640-816 ICND2. Whichever path you decide to follow, you need to cover a quite extensive learning for the CCNA curriculum, so training is essential to guarantee your success.
In my opinion, one of the best choices for learning the CCNA material is to attend an instructor-led classroom training (boot-camp style) which usually have 5-day duration. There are however two major drawbacks for this training choice. The first one is cost. These kind of courses will cost you between $2000 to $4000 which is a considerable amount of money for an introductory course. The second drawback is that classroom-based trainings are quite intensive. During the 5-days of the training you will be "bombarded" with information which will be difficult to assimilate.
So, what is actually the best way to study for the CCNA? In my opinion, the next best choice is to buy a CCNA CBT Training (CBT stands for Computer Based Training). With this study method you can get the benefit of having a visual training instructor teaching you the material from the comfort of your home and without paying so much money. With a CCNA Computer Based Video Training you can train on your own schedule, you can go back and re-study topics that you didn't understand from the beginning, you can get visual examples that will stick in your mind etc. I have actually used Computer Based Video Trainings for my professional level certifications (CCNP and CCSP) and was truly amazed by the results. I have easily passed all exams with scores over 950.
