10 Things You Should Know Before Firing Your Virtual Assistant

You have hired a VA to complete duties and to improve the effectiveness of your business. From time to time the standards of the VA possibly won’t be up to par. The VA may be taking your business standing at stake with low quality work or lack of dedication. No matter what reasons for wanting to end your relationship with your Virtual assistant, the following list gives a guide for doing so elegantly.

1. Review your VA’s contract

More likely you’ll have a printed contract with the VA, before taking actions, read it again so that you’re aware of the agreement terms for ending the contract. Some of the contracts normally require fourteen days notice so better keep this in your head.

2. Write the issues on the paper

You’ll be having a discussion with your VA about the reasons for terminating the relationship. Spend a little time printing them out so you will not be at a loss for reasons in the time that you meet again.

3. Change your passwords.

One more thing to do before telling your VA that you are firing him is to change your security codes, passwords, etc. to every account that you own that your VA may know or have access to. You would want to trust your VA to do the correct thing but you also have to protect yourself.

4. Change your Account Numbers

Be sure to change your credit card and account numbers if your VA had an access in any of those. You may want to take away user privileges from any of your bank accounts.

5. Retrieve documents and files.

Do not forget to retrieve every important hardcopies before terminating your VA.

6. Schedule and appointment.

If you had done all the necessary work for protecting your business and yourself, it is important to arrange a meeting. If your way to communicate is through phone then arrange a teleconference. The point is to be respectful of your VA by not taking the effortless way out by just sending him/her a mail.

7. Be sure to provide examples and proof.

The most difficult thing is to break up, sometimes the VA may be aware that the last part of the relationship is about to happen. Rarely, however, the VA may be caught off guard and shaken up. It would be helpful to send her details of what he/she did wrong. Highlighting the issues would give him/her food for thought so he/she can keep away from future problems.

8. You should be firm.

Some individual will handle the situation in a more professional manner and just accept the fact that you don’t want them anymore. Some may not handle the situation well and cry, make threats or ask plead for one more chance. If you have given the VA to meet your standards unluckily then you should be firm and stick on what you have decided.

9. Give the VA’s final payments.

If you have any exceptional payments for your VA, then be sure to clear your financial credit at the meeting.

10. Make an advertisement for a new for hiring a new Virtual Assistant.

You will now face the job of finding a new VA. To keep away from past mistakes, write up a work description and include every task that you want to be done. Reflect on the trouble that you have encountered in the past and list the traits that you expect from the VA. What abilities should he/she possess? Discuss this with all potential freelancers so there will not be any revelations in the future.
