Watches originated from Switzerland a couple of centuries ago. The first type of watches were mechanical watches, which were then followed by automatic watches. Today, both types of watches are still available in the market such as replica watches, Omega watches, Rolex watches and Cartier watches. Ever since they were created, both Swiss watches and mechanical watches have been valued for their great design and excellent craftsmanship. They have also both remained popular through the years. This is because they have very distinct qualities that many individuals, men and women alike look for.

However, do you know how each of these types work?

Mechanical watches make use of energy which comes from a wound spring. This type of watch keeps time with the regulated release of energy via a set of gears called the wheel train and an escapement. All components of this type of watch are mechanical. One winding allows the watch to run for at least 40 hours, however, there are certain brands that can run for 8 up to 10 days. But in order to maintain this type of watch and keep it in good condition, it has to be checked regularly, every three to five years.

This type of watch goes back to the 1500s when Peter Henlein invented it. The number of this watch's parts varies, however a mechanical watch normally contains around 150 parts or so. There mechanical watches that are tapped to record various moon phases as well as record date and time on a regular basis.

In servicing a mechanical watch, the components are worked on having the right lubrication. It is also serviced to get rid of dirt, moisture, and dust. Mechanical watches are recommended to be serviced for its water resistance qualities every year, while the watch itself should be checked on at least every 3 years.

Mechanical watches are known for their tradition, fine craftsmanship, and astounding aesthetics. This kind of watch is manufactured with excellent precision.

There are many mechanical replica watches like Rolex watches, Cartier watches and Omega watches. They offer great quality at more affordable prices.

On the other hand, automatic watches work with the help of body and wrist movement which enables the rotor to pivot freely. Any action made by the wrist causes the rotor to move back and forth. Meanwhile, the mainspring which is a coiled spring powering the watch, is wound through the rotor's movement. Like mechanical watches, automatic watches also have to be serviced regularly to be maintained in good condition.

This kind of watch is credited to Abraham Louis-Perrelet. Rolex is credited for the modern rotor which is used in today's automatic watches. Emily Borer, who was at the helm of Rolex at that time, is the one responsible for the modern rotor.

In servicing automatic watches, manufacturers re-lubricate the watch while checking the seals attached on it. Usually, the seals are checked annually. Automatic watches must be serviced periodically - if possible once every three years.

Automatic watches are popular among watch lovers because of the craftsmanship and their mechanism. Today, you can also get the same craftsmanship and beauty with replica watches for Omega watches, Cartier watches and Rolex watches.
