Govt moves for proper electricity billingTHE Federal Government yesterday made a fresh move to ensure efficient supply of electricity to consumers when, in line with the metering code launched in June last year, it inaugurated a metering committee to oversee key aspect of the process.
The committee is expected, among other things, to tackle the issue of pre-paid metering and complaints of improper billing levelled against the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

RIL announces bonus issue of 1:1 Dividend of 130%, Payout of Rs. 2,219 croreThe Board of Directors of Reliance Industries Ltd today proposed, subject to shareholders approval, issue of bonus shares in the ratio of one share for everyshare held in the Company. The Board also proposed interim dividend of Rs 13 per share for the financial year 2008-09. This will result in a payment of Rs. 2,219 crore inclusive of taxes of Rs. 322 crore. Both the bonus shares and dividend will accrue to the shareholders of erstwhile Reliance Petroleum Ltd which has been amalgamated recently with the Company.
