Essay writing tests the skills of a writer in different facets of the language that he is writing upon. Reading books and articles helps you in getting ideas. Spending sometime in the library searching for relevant books on your essay topic will surely benefit you. If you are an undergraduate scholar quoting from published articles in your essay definitely helps. At an undergraduate level your reviewer may not expect such high standard from you. You may get a higher grade than your peers if you choose to quote from articles.
Now you have all the books and materials that are needed to write the essay. There are few rules that you may want to follow. It always helps to keep a notebook handy with you so that you can jot down important points as soon as you come across them. Try reading the books with an interactive frame of mind as if you are in a discussion with the author. Once you find notes that are relevant file them instantly so that it will help you to find them easily at a later stage. Always make a bibliography so that you can go back to the references when needed. Following the steps outlined above can help you to present an essay which will be really worth reading.
