Training can best be understood as the process of knowledge or skill transference from a skilled individual to another who may apply it in their current or future jobs. In this day and age, all potential and current members of the workplace ought to consider training as an indispensable part of their career development strategies.

Training develops careers

  1. It boosts work output: Many corporations frequently require the best output from their employees. In fact those who demonstrate a commitment towards boosting productivity are likely to be considered for future job opportunities in their organizations.

  2. To prepare one for change. The corporate scene is flooded with instances of mergers and acquisitions. Alternatively, some firms opt to keep altering their strategies whenever they can. Consequently, one can never really predict what the future has in store for them. When one is well trained, this boost one's chances of being retained after a major corporate change. Furthermore, it places one at an advantage when looking for other opportunities if they had been dismissed after those corporate changes.

  3. To boost one's career development. Usually, employees may have a rough idea of where they would like to be in their careers after certain periods of time. On the other hand, these same employees may have discussed those very career options with their employers. Such organizations could therefore have designed a plan for an employee's career growth. Sometimes, those new positions may require different skills and abilities. Training is therefore the means with which an employee can develop and grow in their careers.

Training eliminates stagnation

In the dynamic arena that is characteristic of most workplaces, fresh graduates looking for jobs or new employees looking to establish professional careers can only survive if they keep improving themselves and training facilitates this. There can never be a situation where one is too prepared.
