Learn a New Skill – Speed Reading!

Every once and a while, you find the need to learn a new skill.  Whether it’s because of the demands of your career, or simply because you don’t feel like you have enough skills in your back pocket, sometimes, we all have this desire to learn how to do something new.  If you find that this is how you’re feeling, right now, then I have a tremendous, totally free solution for you – learn speed reading.

Speed reading is something that many people do not really think about when it comes to new skills – most people think about things like knitting, computer skills, or learning a new sport – yet speed reading is really a powerful skill, which, if well-utilized, can give you a great benefit in a wide variety of applications.

Going to college?  Speed reading is almost essential there – you’ll  often be expected to trudge through three or four different novels or textbooks in a week’s time, and have gotten something out of them.  Without knowing how to skim, scan, and retain information, you’ll be spending all of your time there in the library, mindlessly working away, and getting less out of the time there than many of the people who have time off to party.

If you work in business or in an office setting, then you no doubt have dozens of emails every day that need to be read, processed, remembered, and dealt with.  However, if you can double your reading speed, then you can read and handle that boring drudgery in half the time.  You’ll be able to concentrate more on your projects, and you’ll be a much more effective employee.  When it comes time for a raise, who would they choose?  You, of course.

If you’re interested in learning as many different skills as possible, then speed reading should be one of the first things you plan on learning.  Any time you pick up a book or a magazine, you can greatly increase your comprehension and memory if you know the basics of speed reading.
