"Students learn what we primarily do is homework -- one day per week for three hours with 64 classroom hours and 136 hours of homework/assignments. Students go out and gain 60 hours of practical experience, usually in retirement homes and like organizations." After students complete 60 hours, they pick four people and keep case studies over a course of 10 treatments to those four people. "That's where the student's confidence really gets built from positive feedback," Hoskins explains. "Students are providing a valuable service to the community."

As a continuing education provider, the International Academy of Reflexology and Meridian Therapy recently developed a convenient communication tool for its students and graduates that functions in real-time, online. In addition to continuing education seminars, IARAMT's recent implementation of an Internet forum for current students and graduates enables the free flow of questions and answers. "Current and former students have access to it for as long as they want," Hoskins says.

IARAMT's reflexology course is provided in a classroom setting and is currently in the process of extending courses through local community colleges. In addition, it is registered by the Department of Education for its therapeutic reflexology diploma course, which is one of the highest statuses a private education institute can have.
