The Exquisite Art of Crafting Faberge Eggs

The tradition of Faberge Eggs to commorate the tradition of Easter, which is continuing even today is a age old tradition which started with the Russian Tsar, during the festive season of Russian Orthodox Church. There was a surprise inside each egg and he was commissioned with making an Easter egg every year. To date there are 54 known original Faberge eggs which bring credit to the name of Carl Faberge. From gold and diamond encrusted Faberge eggs to plain, enamel work on copper and bronze, everything is available. There are many different types of Silver surprise eggs that are available both online and in stores. Faberge eggs made great gifts on birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries and engagements.

In 1884, the first Egg was handcrafted on the personal order of the Russian Czar for his beautiful wife, Czarina Maria as a surprise present.

Peter Carl Faberge was a businessman and an expert jeweler, who took up this challenge and came up with an interesting gold Easter egg, encrusted with precious stones and gems. There was a surprise inside each egg and he was commissioned with making an Easter egg every year. The Russian Revolution brought an end to this. To date there are 54 known original Faberge eggs which bring credit to the name of Carl Faberge. Due to the intricate craftsmanship and detailing, many replicas also came into being. However, these days there are many people, who look forward to owning a similar egg while some are able to buy an original Easter egg from private collections, many have to satisfy themselves by buying a replica.

The famous Faberge eggs were crafted from a unique technique that was found by himself in which 140 colors were used. Each layer of enamel was fired upon after each application which gave a shiny lustrous look to the Egg. He had used precious noble metals like gold and silver while even today you can get amazing silver eggs with surprises inside in precious stones and inlay work.

Not all metal eggs are expensive as you can get one to suit your budget and taste. From gold and diamond encrusted Faberge eggs to plain, enamel work on copper and bronze, everything is available. Sterling silver is the most common material used due to its durability and malleability.

There are many different types of Silver surprise eggs that are available both online and in stores.
