Mothers of all kinds have to look no further to find the right funding needed to further their education. President Barack Obama has been pushing for moms to go back to school and has even set aside government money to help them in this effort. But why is this focus on education happening now? Well, the recession has something to do with it. Obama wants to keep moms from living in poverty conditions, and the time is now to take advantage of funding that is being offered.

It is important to get a college education because employers will not think twice about hiring someone unless the applicant has a degree. Once that diploma is earned, these moms, whether they stay at home with their children or have low-paying jobs, will be able to better their living situations. There are two-year programs and trade-schools that can get them the degree. If the school you will be studying at is accredited, you can take advantage of government grants. The Pell grant can be as high as $5,000. You have to meet financial guidelines to qualify for that grant. If you don't, rest assured because there are many other grants and scholarships to choose from. Government grants are not loans but gifts that do not have to be paid back. This takes away the financial burden often associated with higher education.

Executive Women International (EWI) is for people in transitional periods of life, such as single motherhood, which makes going back to school difficult. The scholarship generally comes in an amount of $2,500, paying for education-related expenses. This money is not only for single parents, but displaced workers can also take advantage of it.
