However, if you are staying anywhere else you should go for a compressor-driven central air conditioner.

The size of the air conditioner will depend on the amount of cooling you need and the area you have to cool.

For a central air conditioner the minimum SEER rating that you should settle for is 12.0 and nothing less than that.

There are also a few features which you should look for like a fan-only switch, a filter check-light and an automatic-delay fan switch. Do not forget to keep in mind the noise level also.
