Electric Buzzers: Benefits and Functions

A basic model of electric buzzer usually consists of simple circuit components such as resistors, a capacitor and 555 timer IC or an integrated circuit with a range of timer and multi-vibrator functions. It works the same manner as an electric bell but without the bell. As what its name suggests, electro-mechanical buzzer produces sound electronically. The signal or siren is not a speaker. Alternatively, what produces the sound is the air moving through the holes.

Different types of electric buzzers are used in residential and industrial purposes, and each model has specific uses and functions. They can go as loud as 100 decibels, which is as loud as a jet engine.

Here are some of the primary benefits of using electric buzzers:

  • The use of warning systems like delta-larm or electric buzzers could be very beneficial in minimizing loss of lives during a disaster or accident. They are important devices in any building or facilities to alert and notify people if a timely evacuation is necessary.
  • Specialized electric alarm systems could act as warning about threatening liquid level conditions in lift pump chambers, sewage, and other non-potable water applications. It is essential that you know how efficiently is your home or business site’s sewer system works and this can be gauged more accurately if it is accompanied by an electric sewage alarm.
  • Most electro mechanical buzzers are easy to set up. In fact, you don’t need to hire an electrician to install it, since no hard wiring is usually needed. This means cutting down on expenditure for hiring a professional installer.
  • In workplace, electric buzzers, especially those with timing software, offers more benefits and features than traditional timers and expensive bell. They could be synchronized with an automatic software via computer to control and switch times or channels within the day.
  • Electric buzzers could even be used in a wide array of appliances. Some buzzers are now used in switching sounds of electric home appliances such as microwaves, washing machines, calculators, smoke detectors, and telephone ringers, transmitters, and many more.
  • With the help of electro-mechanical buzzers, you can be notified of an automobile entering your residence or business when you’re in remote areas, so you never miss a warning.
