How to Consider Buying an LCD Monitor

Posted: Nov 13, 2008 | Comments: 0 | Views: 370 | Bookmark and Share

An LCD is like a large TV screen because of its highest quality image that it produces on the screens.

I will give you 10 reasons when you buy a LCD Monitor:

1. Resolution Quality: Some of the key features to consider when buying an LCD monitor would be the resolution quality and the aspect ratio.  In this age of technology with Blue-ray and high definition, it is important to buy a Full HD monitor and not go with HD ready.

2. Number of USB Hubs: Well these can come in very handy of just plugging in any USB devices directly to the display vs. going through a central media player.  Now some of them would be on the side or behind it.

3. Pixel Defects: This is something very important to know about the monitor and the warranty on it.  Because a pixel can go bad by having a still image on a monitor for a long time and when that happens there will be no image being produced in that area.  The way you will know if a pixel is bad is that you will see a black or white dot on the screen.

4. Attached Speaker Evaluation: Some monitors come with attached speaker systems.  But this can be expensive and you might not have the best sound coming out of them.  But if you have no room and you don’t want separate speakers then make sure there is a mute button or volume on the display for you to control.

5. Viewing Angle: Most new LCD monitors have wide viewing angles. It is important to consider viewing angle performance if you plan to use the monitor to view images or movies. The best way to judge is to see the unit in person.

6. Digital interfaces: Data interfaces are very important for businesses. For example, as a business you would like to remotely manage and control the various LCD monitors. Businesses need to strongly consider LCD information display as this is a professional display with more control rights in a business environment.  If TV or entertainment is your main concern then a LCD monitor would be ok for you.

7. Bright Pixel Feature: New LCD monitors have bright pixel feature that ensures if a failed pixel occurs on the monitor, it would be invisible to the viewer. Not a must have feature but a good thing to have.

8. Configuration Software: Included programs that let you configure display settings using your computer keyboard or mouse are a big improvement over struggling with tiny front-panel buttons.

9. Portrait Capability: This is very important for you to know depending on the usage of the LCD, having it in landscape mode or portrait mode. Using landscape format in portrait can result in reducing the life of the LCD monitor. Portrait capable LCD, however, often have superior viewing-angle performance. Not all LCD monitors.

10. Included Cables: Last but not the least item is to check to see what cables are included. Manufacturers often don't provide the digital cable on dual-input models.

I understand that a slow cash flow is hard to cope with and the first inclination is to cut out the overhead. Unfortunately, they think of advertising as overhead. I considered it an extra salesperson that never slept, needed no health benefits, but always worked hard to bring in business. Advertising should be the last thing to go especially if you can cut cost and get more leads in the process. Now doesn't that sound like a win-win?
