Monitor Options

The computer has become an important communication tool for people around the world. The amount of hours spent looking at a computer monitor continues to increase as the Internet expands and more information is revealed. Whether the computer is used for business or pleasure, the monitor is the connection that brings all information to life and expands our awareness. Monitors are becoming more sophisticated. The old CRT tube monitors were good at the time, but the new TFT-LCD monitor technology is bringing the world into our homes with vibrant color and exquisite clarity. Good monitor images bring the mundane and boring aspects of work alive and make pleasure more pleasurable. There are several choices when it comes to monitors, so it’s important to do some research and identify as many monitor options as possible, before deciding to make it part of your daily work or entertainment activities.

Screen size is one of the most important aspects of a monitor; the larger the screen the better, unless there is a space restriction of some kind. Widescreen monitors are the rage at the moment and 22” and 24” LCD models are in big demand. There are several manufacturers that have focused on providing the latest in monitor technology. Almost all of them make a good product, but since a monitor becomes a personal virtual display tool, it’s a good idea to find a manufacturer that has a good reputation for making the type of monitor you need. Color and image quality are priorities, so pixel resolution and image display are extremely important. The TFT LCD technology is great for a small business or for the home environment. A TFT LCD monitor eliminates the radiation that plagues CRT monitors and they consume less power. The colors are more vibrant and they take up less space. The viewing area is larger and they can be integrated with other monitors and can display the same image or a different one, simultaneously.

The new widescreen LCD monitors can be integrated with webcams, so you can record videos or chat with friends or even hold business meetings. Other monitors have iPod docks and integrated speakers. A 27” screen is perfect for movie enthusiasts, video editing professionals and publishers. When a 27” screen is used on a daily basis, it’s hard to work on a smaller screen. Some of the new digital monitors offer landscape pivot viewing, 178 degree viewing and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Other models have USB hub features bundled into monitors, so games as well as music can be enjoyed. Navigating to adjust the brightness and the contrast is easy on some advanced monitors, they have a menu that enables the user to change settings and there is an auto-configuration button so the monitor can align and configure itself while using an analog VGA connection. There’s also a feature that changes the signal input source. Some new monitors have 360 degree movement and can tilt forward and back 20 degrees and some even have height adjustments.

Monitors are changing as fast as computers and manufacturers will continue to add new features and functions that will improve the quality of our work and entertainment experiences.
