Nintendo DSi Console - A Handheld Game Console stepping ahead of DS Lite

Nintendo, the worldwide innovator in the creation of interactive entertainment has recently launched a game console -- Nintendo DSi.

The DSi primarily shares the handheld gaming market with Sony’s PlayStation Portable. A major feature that distinguishes the Nintendo DSi is its two interactive digital cameras that can be both incorporated into gameplay and used as a standalone camera feature. With two 0.3 megapixel cameras built into the console, the Nintendo DSi Console brings an entirely new dimension to gameplay.

The cameras are able to accurately detect facial features and players’ movements, i.e. by moving the upper body, hands, arms and head in front of the camera will allow new games to be played by movement alone, bringing a whole new way of interacting with the handheld. The DSi also includes connectivity with an online store as well as internal and external storage of content. A pink LED light glows when the outer camera is active. The outer casing also abandons the vertical square DS logo modeled in the plastic found on the DS Lite.

The console has two larger TFT-LCD screens at 3.25 inches, instead of the former 3 inches, capable of displaying 260,000 colors. The lower display of the console is overlaid with a touchscreen, designed to accept input from the included stylus attached to the optional wrist strap. Also on the front are the four face buttons, the directional pad, and the Start, Select, and Power buttons. The DSi has five brightness settings compared to the DS Lite which had only four. Battery life is stable, so users can take it anywhere and enjoy themselves with the uninterrupted gameplay.

In simple terms, with many more features, Nintendo DSi has advanced itself ahead of DS Lite and also provides a satisfied gameplay for the users.

I was just on Samsung LN46B630 TV this afternoon, and the installation is very simple. There are many HDMI inputs (three rear, one side), and luckily there are also composite video inputs (two, both in the back), and the style of the old RCA video output (including the sides). The game also allows for USB, PC-out, optical digital audio input. You can also connect the application to the local network using a standard Ethernet connection (sorry kids, but not WiFi).

By: Jason Thomas | 11/11/2009
Fortunately there are lots of viewing angles available with flat panel TV's because they can be put up on cantilevered or articulating brackets or wall mounts. This is important especially if you have a large viewing area because with these mounts then the television can be angled up, down or sideways depending on where you're sitting.
