I have a site that reviews HDTV's like the Sharp Aquos 32 LCD TV and Panasonic Flat Screen TV's.
Well you're finally getting ready to take the HD plunge. Say goodbye to that old standard-def signal right? If you're like me then you're looking for some concrete reasons to "make the switch". After all, it's a big commitment for anyone out there these days to plunk down a pretty good size investment on a brand new HDTV, HD programming packages (which are a monthly cost) and maybe even that Blu-Ray DVD player.
I can assure you that an HDTV with an HD signal (either from HD Programming or a Blu-Ray DVD player) will give you more than two times the image and sound quality of a standard-def signal. Here's Why.
A Standard-Def signal is comprised of 480 lines of color video. Once all these line are put together by the Standard-Def TV or DVD player you get a picture. The 480 line image looks OK, but how can we make it clearer? Add more lines! More lines equals High Definition. It's just that simple.
A typical HDTV with an HD signal will give you 1,080 lines of resolution, that's more the 2 times the image quality your current standard-def tv can deliver. That's what I call "a very big difference". Along with a better image, HD signals also offer audio streams that will take your home theater to a new level in realism. HD signals do not require as much audio compression and therefor sound so much better.
HDTV is a solid upgrade from standard-def, not just one of those "I think it kinda looks better" experiences. It looks Amazing.
