Will Microsoft invade the boundaries beyond the computer successfully?

A few days ago, Intel CEO Paul Otellini claimed in Beijing that embedded systems will be next treasure of Intel, including air-conditioning, DVD, cars should be embedded chip.

Is a coincidence, Microsoft, the other side of WINTEL, it seems like an appointment, but also treats the embedded system as a treasure.

1, Immediate concern the business from the computer to the related equipment, Microsoft thinks that this would be a huge business, because the number of users point out, there is merely 100 million of computer users, one billion of mobile phones users, while the associated equipment is measured based on tens of billions of .  Microsoft divided this market into two parts: one is the consumer-level personal users, the other one is enterprise user.

2, Will it be an upgraded version of WINTEL Union?  The answer is yes, in the past few decades, WINTEL controled of the PC industry chain, the most recent years, the influence of WINTEL watered, in addition to new technologies and new vendors disruptive innovation, another important reason is that The rise of consumer power, or in the past that PC-centric model of the company is experiencing tremendous challenges.

At the aspect of related equipment outside the computer, WINTEL Union, there are still decent appealing.  I asked David Wurster, have Microsoft discussed about this area with Intel, he said - yes.  "We share a very close cooperation in the field of embedded Intel in many ways, we are also very good partner, based on their hardware solutions, we adopted the Windows Embedded CE, with an embedded Windows by Embedded Standard work together to deliver solutions to customers. For example, in some specific markets which we have a deep cooperation with Intel. "

3, The user experience is what David Wurster speaks  the most frequent. There is riving force from the user, in the next wave of mobile Internet, more and more functions of related equipment will be designed, a good man machine interface, a rich user experience, device connectivity, and so on.  Of course, this is also the most difficult to control.
