The home theater room design is one of the most important aspects of planning your theater room. First of all, a creative and fun design can add to the atmosphere of your home theater. But also the home theater room design is crucial to getting the best performance out of your audio and video equipment.

Speakers, for example, determine the quality of the sound from your home theater system but it is the space in which they play that determines the true quality. It's important to keep your room as open as possible and do limit the amount of reflections. Concrete walls, paneling, wood floors are types of material that sound reflects off of easily. Curtains made of absorbent material or acoustic paneling can help with reflection issues and carpeting can help with the floors.

Lighting is another consideration when planning your home theater room design. Although it is important to have darkness in your theater room for better image quality, you should not have total darkness. A small amount ambient lighting in the room will limit eye strain on your guests and limit fatigue. Placing the lighting behind the image will help limit any glare onto your projection screen. Personalized marquees or sconces on the wall are excellent ideas to improve your lighting.

Seating is another important aspect when planning your home theater room design. The days of sitting on the family sofa or sectional to watch movies are gone. With the advent of dedicated home theater rooms, seating can now exist of recliners with high backs and beverage holders. Some even have vibration in the seats so you can feel the action of the movie. Just remember, the important thing when planning your seating design is to fit as many people in the best area to get the best image and sound quality.

Other items to consider in your home theater room design plans are tables to hold the concession products. Make sure the table is sleek and narrow so as not to interfere with the sound. Movie posters and lighting sconces add atmosphere to your walls. DVD racks are handy to hold your DVD's in an out of the way location.

The bottom line when planning your design is to ensure that everything fits into your room without being too cluttered. In addition to your furniture keeping an open are for your sound quality it is important your speakers fit the room size as well. Too large or too small can compromise the dynamic range of your sound.

Samsung AV equipment not working together, "searching for signal"
By: jumpn | 25-06-2008
I have a new Samsung LN46A550 LCD TV and a Samsung 1080P8 DVD player.  I was getting a "searching for signal" error frequently when using the DVD player.  I have no such problem with the cable from the digital cable box. I changed HDMI cables, no change. I exchanged DVD player, no change.  I had the TV exchanged, no change.  What isn't communicating like it should?  It doesn't have a problem when I use the component cables.  I want to use the HDMI hook-up so I would only need 1 remote for TV and DVD player.  Is there something in a menu on either piece of equipment that I need to turn on or off? Thank you.
