4 Sure fire Steps To Building Your Opt In List and monetizing it!

You finally realize that you will need to build an opt in list to succeed after reading countless articles, success stories,  expert opinions and have read many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists.

Then it happens, you think you know everything there is to know about opt in e mail marketing and have followed the advice to the core and you still weren’t able to make a profit.

You may be hiring writers to help you out in your opt in e mail marketing, or there are some other expenses incurred, even if you have a big list, only a very small percentage actually buy from you, your still losing profit. You’ll realize that, after a few months, when you see your statistics and sales figures.  Well it takes much more than just slapping a few hundred email id’s to your Opt In List and send them offers to make sales.

So what could have gone wrong? Why have others succeeded in email marketing,  where you have failed? The most common mistake is that you dived straight in. You chose a topic what you think could be quite popular and would earn you money. This is just not the case. Just because you write to people on your Opt In List it doesn’t mean they are going to buy instantly.

Here I will offer more advice for those who have started an opt-in email list and have not attained that success they were striving for.  For those who are starting, here are four quick and easy ways to build an opt-in list and monetizing it.

 1) Build your credibility: Get your customers to trust you and your products first. Just launching your Opt In List would not make you an expert and a believable seller. These are the various ways that you can build your credibility online.

One good way to build your credibility is to write article or publish books. Put many articles first before you start an opt-in list. Create articles about the topic you know and have started and used for your site and start submitting it to article directories.

  1. Join forums from other sites as well.  Try to use forums to gain knowledge about your customers, about their wants and needs, and target those wants and needs. Provide expert advice and recommendations. When you feel that people trust you, you will be able to benefit more from your own Opt In List. You can build a base as well with other forum users. You can ask them to join your list.
  2. Friends are always good customers. So start building you social networking profiles using Web20 sites, like Facebook, MySpace, Orkut etc.. Put up a link to your site so that they may be able to see what you're business is all about.

The certain truth is, the money will only come in when the consumers and subscribers believe and trust in you. They want a product or service that could be a good exchange for their money. People are not going to buy something out of your recommendation if they don’t know you.

 2) Target your Niche Market:  It is a known fact that marketing a product belonging to one niche to another niche group of opt-in email subscribers, is a big mistake. It’s not only that you won’t make any sales but it can also work negative for you because your subscribers will unsubscribe because you are not sending them relevant content. Always remember, not all niches are profitable because there might be too much competition.

So do your keyword research and find out which niches are profitable and build niche opt-in email lists  in those particular niches.

One of the best ways to build your opt email list is to make all the keywords that belong to the niche market you plan to cater too which has got enough searches and create articles revolving around those keywords. Then start submitting it to article directories along with your squeeze page link as the byline.

 3) Offer Free Gifts for your Subscribers: In today’s world everybody wants some kind of a benefit to do any action.  Once you find out the niche markets that you would want to target then you would need to create a reports or an eBooks related to that niche and offer it free on your opt in squeeze page to your visitors in exchange for their email ids.

You need to compile a compelling squeeze page where you explain the benefits of that free product you giving and use a call to action message for them to subscribe to your list.

To create the free Gift, you can use PLR articles or hire someone to write articles or a report for you.

 4) Monetizing your opt in email list:  Now come the most important part of the whole process which is Monetizing your Opt in email list.  For this to happen you have to mail the users with valuable content which they would like to read before you start sending them your product recommendations

You can sign up to affiliate network sites like Clickbank, Commission junction or Paydotcom to locate hot selling products falling within your niche to recommend to your email list.

Building a profitable opt-in list doesn’t just happen overnight. There are many preparations to do. Opt-in lists are built from scratch, as your list grows, you should also maintain the quality of your list. Keep it organized and manageable. Get or hire help if need be, just make sure that your subscribers are happy and satisfied and they will be willing to buy from you.
