Direct Mail List - Are You Using Yours Effectively?

What are you doing to grow your business today?  No, staying open an hour later on Fridays doesn't count.  What are you really doing to grow your business?  There are several ways to do it, and some of them can be downright annoying to many people.  The reason most marketing strategies are considered annoying is because of the people being targeted.  A mass marketing strategy doesn't work because you're dealing with a group of people who aren't interested in what you're selling for the most part.  Every business serves a certain niche and the people outside that niche just won't be interested, no matter how hard you try.  A direct mail list gives you leads to people who are interested.

Direct mail list brokers can get you a mailing list you can utilize to its fullest potential.  It's filled with people who have opted in to receive information about a certain type of product or products.  If your product is in that particular category, now is the time to do some hard selling.  The people on the list are more likely to hear what you have to say; if they're not in the niche yet, let's put it this way:  Your business is the bandwagon, and they're wondering if they should hop aboard or not.  Your frequent (but not too frequent) e-mails about new products and services will keep them in the loop about what you're doing.

Furthermore, a direct mail list lets you nurture your existing relationships with your current customers.  Create a mailing list of your regular customers and keep them up to date on your products.  While going after new business is always good, doing so at the expense of your existing clientele will make them feel slighted.  Your core customers are the ones you absolutely don't want to lose.  In fact, they're the ones who can honestly tell you what you're doing right and also what you're doing wrong.  Use that information to accentuate your positives and minimize your negatives.

Whether you're using it to expand or maintain, a direct mail list is an easy way to get the message out to your customers very quickly and easily.  Be careful not to send out too many updates!  Remember what we talked about 3 paragraphs ago about marketing strategies being annoying?  Well, that's one of those annoying things.  Don't turn your business updates into a makeshift Twitter account.  Keep them frequent enough to stay fresh, but don't send out several updates in a week.  No one will believe you're that innovative with your product line.
