Getting off the blacklist is important in email marketing.  Being blacklisted can be very bad for your business. You will no longer be able to send emails to your subscribers which could severely hamper your email marketing efforts.

Getting blacklisted would mean low mail delivery rates and even lower returns since mail servers now filter your email. This could be the result of many users who have marked your mail as spam. It can be very difficult to proceed in your email marketing campaign.

How to get off the blacklist?

There are several processes involved in getting yourself off the email blacklist. The steps on how to get off the blacklist are listed below.

  • Find out which blacklist you are on- this involves a rigorous search for certain blacklist databases. These blacklist databases holds lists of IP addresses that have been blacklisted by the server. Monitoring these databases constantly would help keep your email marketing campaign from being blacklisted.
  • Visit the website that contain the blacklist- you can check these websites whether or not your IP address has been blacklisted. Websites such as spamcom.net and spamhouse.org are some examples of these websites. You can search their database by typing your IP address in their search options.
  • Read the instructions- there are different ways to get off the blacklist. These spam control websites contain specific instructions on how to get off the list. It usually takes time for you to be removed from the list. You just have to deal with the facts that the process of removing your email marketing address from the blacklist can take a little time.
  • Follow the instructions- following the instructions given would remove you from their list. Some automatically remove you after 48 hours of stopping sending spam emails. There are others who have specific instructions on how to remove your name from the list. You would have to submit removal requests in order to get off the list.

Moreover, some of these filters offer you a chance to defend yourself. You can submit a report against a user for wrongly accusing you of sending spam messages. You can do this by submitting the full spam report from the database including the headers and the full spam email. You can then submit proof that the user did indeed subscribe to your materials. This can be in the form of the reply email from the user accepting your subscription.

The proof must contain time stamps and secure two way transmissions. This would include the sign up email and the return confirmation. By performing these processes, you can help clear up the name of your email marketing business and go back to your normal routine.
