List building is one of the key methods of making money online, but what must be understood is that yes you do generate a list of targeted subscribers. You sell them some stuff, then you sell them some more stuff... But just doing the previous is where many marketers go wrong and find there not making much money from their list. Ok so before we even start its vital your in a market that people are buying in, if your trying to sell something that no-one is buying, theres no point in even starting. And it seems common sense but many do make this mistake, and some do it without even knowing they are.
A great way to check this is to head over to Google, type in the area your product/service applies to and from the amount of paid ads that appear shows just how much that product is sort after. Equally if you find that your product/ service is in a highly competitive market then maybe you want to think about how you can advertise it as better than all the other products in the market.

It goes back to the saying "Its quality, no quantity," and it is absolutely right, if you build a small list and have a great relationship with them then your going to make more money from them than someone who's managed to make a list ten times the size who bombards them with sales pitch after sales pitch.
So how do you build a relationship with your list?
First off you need to find something you think will be of value to them, and more importantly will help them. You then need to offer it to them for free, in exchange for their name and email address. But what I must stress, theres no point bundling some stuff together quickly and throwing it out there, if its not very good they wont be very impressed and they will go away with a poor image of you or your business. After this your going to keep on doing it, again and again, keep providing them with helpful stuff that is of value to them.
The important note to remember is that if you build a list of targeted subscribers, its very likely they will buy from you, and then in the future because of the relationship you have with them, they are likely to buy from you again, and again.
