Ask any savvy marketer, "Is the mailing list or the product more important?" the unanimous answer you would receive is, "Naturally the mailing list".

Any wise entrepreneur, whether online or traditional brick-and-mortar, will tell you that the mailing lists represents continuing demand for your business. In other words, and obviously, the larger the mailing list, the bigger your business!

If you want to participate in Joint Venture forums and membership sites, you will find that product and service owners prefer marketers with mailing list more than the others. This is because the mailing list owners have the prospects that can help to market products and services.

As a mailing list owner, in addition to marketing your own products, you can sell advertising space or go into a Joint Venture with product owners in return for commissions.

Most of the most successful web businesses on the Internet today often establish the mailing list (or subscribers) first before the product. One fine example is Facebook.com.

Though Facebook.com does not make money from its members, the business makes money from selling advertising space and partnering with other merchants and businesses. This is a perfect example of a successful business that establish a need or demand before the product itself, and why you should do the same, even if you run a niche profit site.

A niche profit site with a mailing list can make a world of difference and also add some extra income for your pocket as you can market a variety of products and services to your list over and over again, not just once. You can also keep your subscribers abreast of what is currently available in your site as well as future events and developments.
