Reverse Email Address Search

If someone you don't know sends you an email, it is natural to want to know who the person is, even if the email is not spam or unfriendly. When you know the sender's identity you will can identify and decide if you would like to reply to him/her or not. Generally emails may contain the sender's name atleast, even if this information is not present then there are couple of email programs that can give you the name that the sender's email account is registered under and it will have this on the line of the email address. If this info is not obtainable, sometimes you can attain more by focusing at the email address itself.

Now, for example an email address like major@leemail.com will not give a clue to the name, the domain name (the word between the @ and the .com part) can give you a clue. Major email providers like yahoo and lycos won't tell you much, but if the domain is something unusual like 'rockhounds.com' or 'businessname.com', you can perform a simple Google search for the domain name. This could bring you one step closer to finding the person. If for example the sender is from a business email address, then you could try contacting the business/company and try to obtain more information regarding the sender. It is plausible that the sender may have sent the email with a valid reason but is just not using good email etiquette. Now suppose you want to find out the sender of a spam email, then you may be out of luck since those are very hard to trace.

If it is extremely vital to for you to know who the sender of a particular email, then you could try performing a reverse email address lookup which could give you the information about the sender including the name.
