Tell me where you have been and I will tell you who you will become....I wish, I would be very wealthy, but there is some truth in it. Your past does tell much about who you are. Your early family relations rank high in this sense. Can you remember your parents? What kind of people were they? How about your relatives? As you grew older how did you spend your time while out of school? Throughout all of your childhood and adolescence did you love the feeling you got when you broke the rules? These questions will help dig into your past to know yourself.
Starting a business requires a very good knowledge of yourself. My parents always gave me opportunities to screw up, which I often did. I am surprised that I did not get hurt more often or permanently injured. You usually have high chances of being an entrepreneur if your parents let you find things for yourself and specially if your parents were full of "wacko and weird" ideas themselves. How about your cousins, siblings, uncles, aunts? Are any of them entrepreneurs? If they are, chances are it runs in the family.
When you were young most likely you spent a great deal of your time at school (unless your parents were so unusual that you did not even have to go (it happened to me for a year). During those years in your spare time were you looking to make a deal with your friends, make a couple of quarters here and there? How about while in high school? Could you not wait until you reached 14 or 15 so you can start working at that burger joint or at the local movie theater so you could make a few dollars? If you answered yes to either one of those questions then you have high chances of being an entrepreneur.
Yes, it feels great to break the rules. The best part is breaking the norms while avoiding the trouble. Of course like anything in life too much of a good thing can be bad. So if you loved being the rule breaker but not to the point of getting in trouble, you most likely are a good candidate for an entrepreneur. Starting a new venture requires pioneering, making trails where there were none. Many times you will be faced with choices that will require breaking the norms and being the odd one. It is not so bad to be odd, as a matter of fact you will be a better entrepreneur if you do not crave social attention and interactions, which you will undoubtedly get when your venture becomes successful.

Now, if you do not find yourself in the statements above, do not despair future entrepreneur! The past is the past, and we live in the present. Entrepreneurial skills develop at any stage of life. What will decide whether you will develop those skills is your resolve and freewill.
