There are many things you need to do to start your own business. In this installment we'll talk about drive. Do you have it in you? I've heard it all from my "friends" how easy it is to have your own freelance business and they "wish" they were in my easy chair.
For some reason there's an old folk tale out there telling us that starting your own home based business is as easy as snapping your fingers. You should know now that it's simply not true.
If you feel this way, I'm going to play the part of the cooler now. You are missing something very important. If you want to start your own business especially a freelance business, you need to have drive and be determined in everything you do for your business. You're going to have a lot challenges ahead of you.
You will work harder and smarter than anyone you know because you'll have no supervisor to push you. While you think having no supervisor is a great feature of owning your own b, it's something you really need to work at if you want to keep making money at freelancing. However, the pay off is great in this business and it will be well worth it to you.
The trick with freelancing is that you have to get work right away. Then you have to get work all the time. If you don't you don’t get paid. You see, the pay check doesn't come every two weeks. You get paid sporadically. So if you don't get that work you won't get paid at all. With that being said, you'll want to start saving money each time you get paid.
In this crazy business, you'll need a thick skin. If you don't, you'll get torn apart by the sheer insanity of this business. This holds true if you're just starting out and have no money coming in to pay the bills. You'll need to handle a lot of things for your business while you are working and finding projects.
However, the good side to this is that you'll have a good business that will be very rewarding. Plus, you'll have a more flexible time schedule to allow you to maybe to do things that you couldn't do when you were working from 9 to 5 and that's a good thing.
