Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Power systems

Solar power is a special system in which the solar energy is transformed into electricity. It has been invented for being a substitute of the thermal power. Today, solar power system has become popular for household purposes also to curtail the expenditure on electricity. However, there are people who are still doubtful about the advantages and disadvantages of this special electricity producing system. So, let’s have a brief sketch of the advantages and disadvantages of solar energy.

Advantages of Solar Power Systems:

  • The good thing of this solar energy is that it is a renewable energy. The same solar panels keep on producing electricity day after day. Being a renewable energy, it can be generated from the Sunlight.
  • This power generation system is environment friendly and there are no harmful emissions either. It does not emit carcinogens like oil and also prevents the green house effect.
  • This energy is completely free unlike the other traditional energy. You don’t need to pay a single dime to use it at your home. Moreover, the maintenance cost is lesser than the others.

Disadvantages of Solar Power:

The main disadvantages of solar power system is that that the installation cost of the whole system is very expensive and might be way out of your budget. The total cost of the system ranges from $5000 to $20000 which is quite large for the household use. However, the cost varies as per the market demand. Moreover, in the rainy season when the sun remains covered by cloud, you will not get the energy for your use.
