In the Quran: Allah Determined the Moon in Phases

The Moon is mentioned in the Bible 41 times, 32 times in the Old Testament and nine times in the New Testament.

The Moon is mentioned in the Noble Quran 25 times

Isaiah 30:26 says that the moon will shine like the sun

Verse 10:5 says that Allah has made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light

-------------------------

Isaiah 30:26 in four different versions of the Bible:

New International Version

26 The moon will shine like the sun, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven full days, when the LORD binds up the bruises of his people and heals the wounds he inflicted.

New American Standard Bible

26 The light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven days, on the day the LORD binds up the fracture of His people and heals the bruise He has inflicted.

English Standard Version

26 Moreover, the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day when the LORD binds up the brokenness of his people, and heals the wounds inflicted by his blow.

King James Version

26Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.

------

This verse gives two scientific signs:

  • 1- The moon will shine like the sun
  • 2- The light of the sun will be sevenfold, i.e., the sunlight will be seven times brighter.

Upon consulting the scholars in Astronomy, they said that the moon could not and would not shine like the sun.  Also, they do believe that if the light of the sun will be sevenfold then there will be no life on the earth.  However, these two scientific signs will happen in the day when the LORD binds up the brokenness of his people, and heals the wounds inflicted by his blow.

Verse 10:5 of the Noble Quran in four different translations:

Verse 10:5

QARIB: it was he that made the sun a brightness and the moon a light, and determined it in phases so that you might know the number of years and the reckoning. Allah did not create them except in truth, and distinguishes the verses to a nation who know.

SHAKIR: he it is who made the sun a shining brightness and the moon a light, and ordained for it mansions that you might know the computation of years and the reckoning. Allah did not create it but with truth; he makes the signs manifest for a people who

PICKTHAL: he it is who appointed the sun a splendour and the moon a light, and measured for her stages, that ye might know the number of the years, and the reckoning. Allah created not (all) that save in truth. he detaileth the revelations for people who have knowledge.

YUSUFALI: it is he who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty), and measured out stages for her; that ye might know the number of years and the count (of time). nowise did Allah create this but in truth and righteousness. (thus) doth he explain his signs in detail, for those who understand.

The verse says that:

Allah has made the sun a radiance, that is, emitting light, and the moon a light, and determined it, with respect to its movement, in stations: 28 stations in 28 nights every month, becoming concealed for two nights when a particular month has 30 days, or [concealed] for one night, when it has 29 days, so that you might know, thereby, the number of the years and the reckoning.

Allah did not create that, which is mentioned, save in truth, not in vain, exalted be He above such things.

He details the verses of the Quran with signs of divine Oneness for people who have knowledge, for people who believe, for people who understand.

Organic Clothing - how important sustainable organic clothing really is?

By: Josef Stewart | 09/11/2009
It has crossed my mind that organic clothing is not fashionable. Maybe we tend to associate organic fabric with the Hippie look of the 70s, but things have changed a lot since then. Natural, non-synthetic fibers, these are the basic features of organic clothing, and the promotion of such products is usually a feature of environmental movements concerned with organic agriculture. Only plants from organic crops are used for the manufacturing of organic clothing: there are no genetic modi...
