What is your basic definition for the term carbon footprint? Well if you look it up on wikipedia a carbon footprint is described as the amount of GHG or green house gases that are used by people, companies, products or events either directly or indirectly. That pretty much covers it all don't you think? Carbon emissions or green house gases are all caused by what, well it’s all caused by everyone using gas and oil to fuel everything we do of course. This is really no big revelation of course as most of this information has been common knowledge for years now. It's only been recently in just the last year when the prices of gas jumped that people united together and finally agreed to find a better way. People start paying attention when it hits them in their wallets, don’t they?
When the the issue started to cost us a significant more amount of money all of sudden finding greener ways to live became more important to a majority of us. I am not complaining mind you I am excited that living greener is not just a saying anymore and it’s a way of living your life that more of us are actively living a greener lifestyle. It's just a shame that it had to go as far as it did before we all woke up and took notice.
Can you think of a couple of the more common choices people are making in their pursuit of a greener lifestyle? Have you changed your light bulbs and moved on to the twisty bulbs? Of yeah those twisty bulbs, they remind me of the swirly straws that we used to get for our strawberry milk! How about looking into moving into a smaller house? Think about it or not the concept of living in a smaller place is starting to catch on for a lot of folks and they have a good way of using less energy than some of those big homes that you see around so many communities now a days. Then you have the coming soon electric cars and the hybrids that everyone is trying to make and sell right now.
Can you think of the hundreds if not millions of other ways to live a greener lifestyle and I know that my family is doing our part. Hopefully yours is as well, what are a few of the things that you have learned about living a greener lifestyle in the last few years that would be a good tip for the rest of us?
