It is the desire of many people to get away from fossil fuel and begin using more green solar energy. There are several benefits from making that move, not the least of which is a dramatic savings on your monthly utility bills, and reducing the carbon footprint of the people that use this form of energy.. To really understand how you can use green solar energy, you first need to understand the two basic types people typically refer to.
Green solar energy usually is considered Light Energy, and Thermal Energy. When harnessed, these two types of energy can provide a good renewable form of energy
Light Energy
When most people think of “Solar Energy,” This is what they think of. It allows you to capture the light energy from the sun using solar panels, which convert that light into electricity. That electricity can then be used to power electrical appliances around your home.
If you are in an area that has a lot of direct sunlight, or if you have enough solar panels, you can generate enough energy to completely power your home. By using batteries you will be able to store the electricity for use at night, or on days where the sun is hidden behind the clouds. In fact, it is quite possible to drive your electric bill down to zero.
There are quite a few DIY programs that are available that make it possible to build your own solar generators. While it does take more effort on your part, it can greatly reduce the cost of converting your home to green solar energy.
Thermal Energy
Another form of solar energy is Thermal Solar Energy. Thermal solar energy capture the heat from the sun, and uses it to keep your home warm. This can be accomplished in the design of a home by positioning windows so they receive the most light during the day, and by using building materials that retain the heat longer.
Another form of thermal solar energy is using collector panels that collect the heat for other uses. These could be used for heating water for home use, heating swimming pools, and could be used for solar ovens for cooking food.
It is very possible for us to become more green, and to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. Using green solar energy we will be able to have renewable sources of energy for use in our homes, and we can greatly reduce the amount of money we spend. Going green does not mean you have to do without the things you enjoy, it means looking for more environmentally friendly ways to power our lives.
