Yellow Rain & Black Water

Global warming is one of the most debated and hotly contested topics of our day; however, thee are far more pressing issues than global warming. Who is the advocate for clean water? In the last sixty years the world population has doubled; however, the use of water has tripled. Why is it that no one is trumpeting the cause of people around the globe who are drinking "killer water" and breathing "killing air"?

The Spring ritual in Korea is to try and avoid yellow rain!

Schools close, businesses shorten the work day, and people grab their dust masks and stay in doors as much as possible when it's yellow rain time. Seasonal winds whip the desert sands into the air which mix with the pollutants dumping yellow rain not on just Korea, but China and Japan as well. And since China is planning on opening a new coal-fired plant every week for the next ten years (520 of them), it's only going to get worse.

We are killing our planet and unless we stop sooner than later, we are killing ourselves as well. Consider the following:

>25,000 people die daily from contaminated water (mainly dysentery)
>1,000,000,000 people do not have access to clean drinking water.
>The single greatest cause of death on the planet is because of pollution of drinking water.
>Beaches have become an endangered species
>Some rivers are so polluted one could bottle it and sell it as a poison.
>Stream are so polluted by chemical fertilizers that amphibians are growing horns and two heads.
>We are seeing the extinction of 25,000 species a year

Yellow rain and black water have far more serious consequences than any perceived global warming issues, but politicians play the game that gives them the greatest rewards. In America it's no longer sufficient to be a patriotic red white and blue citizen. One must add GREEN to those three colors as well. How about if we add some COMMON SENSE? While there are some serious dangers "out there" that may or may not show up by December 21, 2012, we have some sure-fire dangers right here, right now!

There are four main types of bridges. Beam bridges rest horizontal on 2 piers

By: Paul Ingersole | 08/12/2009
There are four main types of bridges. Beam bridges rest horizontal on 2 piers. The weight pushes down on the beams. This causes compression on the top beam and tension on the bottom beam. Such bridges are approximately 200 feet. This type of bridge is used for pedestrian crossings and highway overpasses. Cantilever bridges use beams that are only supported at one end. They are built from steel and able to withhold several tons. This type of bridge can span over 1,500 feet.
