Don't Buy Any Treadmills Until you Read This

Author: Greg Prather Author Ranking Blue | Posted: 22-01-2008 | Comments: 0 | Views: 9 | Rating:  (50) Article Popularity - Green (?) Got a Question? Ask.

So you’ve decided to buy a treadmill. Now the question remains, do you want a folding treadmill or non-folding treadmill? Folding treadmills are actually a very popular choice among consumers. There are obvious advantages to a folding treadmill that include saving valuable space and making cleaning the area under the treadmill much easier. Then there is the advantage of hiding them away from visitors. Actually having a folding treadmill is seen as yet another neat feature like having a water bottle holder attachment, only on a much larger scale. Another positive feature is that most of these machines have extra structural support so they can hold greater physical weights.

What Are Folding Treadmills?
Folding treadmills have an adjustable incline to accommodate a more intense workout and a feature to fold up the machine when not in use and to save space. These machines are ideal for smaller spaces. There are two main types of fold up treadmills:

Power Folding-Shock Assisted
This machine actually assists in the folding process. This will help with added stresses on your back. Basically, you can push a button and the treadmill folds and unfolds itself. Shock assisted treadmills are actually easier to find when out shopping around and the effort you need to expend is minimal.

Manual Folding
This machine needs to be lifted to fold it up and held to unfold it and let it down. If the treadmill is fairly light, this may not be an issue. However, if the machine is heavier, it could pose a problem, especially for people with health problems or older individuals. Cheaper machines tend to be manual.

Most fold up treadmills also come with a locking mechanism and wheels at the base, which make it much easier to move it around if need be. With all the treadmills out there, it may be hard to choose a machine. Here are three recommendations by price category that may help you on your initial search:

Smooth 5.25- Under $1,000
Sole F83 Treadmill- Mid-priced
Nordic Track S-3000- Premium-priced

If you think a folding treadmill is for you, there are factors and features to take into consideration as well as price. For ease and spatial freedom, nothing beats a folding treadmill!
