Morley Athletic Supply Company Inc. has been in business since 1931. As a fourth generation family member involved in the company, team sports is more than a job it's an obsession. With thousands of new products being developed and marketed every year it is important to keep coaches and players updated on what's new for their sport. I write articles to provide them with this information.
So your sick of your knees getting bruised during a volleyball game but your not sure if you should shell out the "big bucks" for a pair of top end knee pads. This article will explain some of the features of today's best volleyball knee pads so you'll know what your paying for.
The knee pad market has hundreds of options ranging from sleeve style pads to big bubble pads. In the past people gravitated towards bubble knee pads thinking that bigger must be better but with today's modern technology it is possible to pack more protection into a less bulky knee pad making choosing a pad that performs more difficult than simply looking at the picture.
I'm going to showcase 3 knee pads from 3 different manufacturers that stand out from the crowd.
The first knee pad to look at are the Mizuno LR6 volleyball knee pads. The outside of this pad is fairly standard in the market made of a poly/cotton/spandex blend that offers a nice feel and good shape retention. While this pad appears to be slim through the use of modern materials it offers complete patella, lateral and medial protection. The use of Mizuno's VS-1™ padding in high impact zones means that you get top end protection while still maintaining freedom of movement. In fact Mizuno's LR6 knee pad is patterned with the Mizuno D.F. Cut™ in a 6" sleeve length for greater freedom of movement.
A little less expensive but just as technologically advanced is the Asics Competition™ 3.0 Gel knee pads. The Asics knee pad actually features the same type of Gel™ cushioning system that Asics has become famous for in their footwear. The Gel™ cushioning absorbs shock and disperses it over a great area thus reducing direct impact on specific pin point area. A simple yet brilliant idea. The Gel™ is durable and encased inside the kinetofoam knee pad if works very well. The Asics Competition 3.0 Gel™ knee pad offers a streamlined look and an ultra-low profile knee padding system along with a 7-1/2" sleeve length to keep it snug on the court.
The least expensive on our list but yet very competitive in the field of top-end knee pads is the Mikasa Championship Volleyball knee pads. Perhaps you wouldn't think about buying knee pads from a company that's famous for making volleyballs and other inflatables but this knee pad is packed with high quality design features that make it worth looking at. This knee pad offers a new design that's innovation provides great flexibility. The padding is split into smaller sections throughout the sleeve with "seams" that make the entire face of the knee pad flexible. This promotes more fluid motion for the player and keeps the pad in place on the court. Then Mikasa went overboard with features and packed in antimicrobial qualities into the fabric to fight odors and on top of that they used moisture wicking fabric to make the pad more comfortable through out the entire match. The sleeve is contoured for a great fit and you get all of this for a price tag well under $20.
Well I hope you learned a little more about high end knee pads. You will find a full selection of volleyball knee pads at prices that won't break the bank at www.morleyathletic.com. Thanks for reading.
