Akshardham Temple, located on the outskirts of Delhi, is a flabbergasting work of craftsmanship with religious fervor. The Akshardham temple complex has been built on the banks of the serene River Yamuna and lies over a sprawling 100 acres of lush manicured lawns adorned with water fountains and carved pavilions. Akshardham was created by Pramukh Swami Maharaj in fulfillment to the wish of his guru, Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj, the fourth successor in the spiritual hierarchy of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. In only a short timespan of five years Swaminarayan, Akshardham became a reality through the blessings of Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
The complex is well known cultural centre for numerous social and religious activities. This beautiful temple has ornately carved pillars, domes, skikhars, piths, statues. The carvings depicts the flora fauna dancers, musicians, and deities. There are several galleries in the temple complex which room a museum with personal belongings of Swaminaryana in addition to the multi media presentation of highlighting the life and preachings of the sage.
