Notes from the road
It was only back in the late 1970's that Dubai was still a barren corner of the Persian gulf, but since the United Arab Emirates was formed in 1979, Dubai has seen a period of growth unlike anything that has been witnessed before. The city now bears hardly any resemblance to its past.
Dubai is now known the world over as being a centre for outrageous luxury, playing host to hotels such as the Burj Al Arab which is the only 7 star hotel on the planet, and what is soon to be the tallest building in the world, the Burj Dubai. However, all of this is combined with stunning beaches, legendary duty free shopping and the traditional Arabian culture meaning that Dubai is not solely a playground for the rich and famous.
Holidays in Dubai are best taken between December and March whilst the area is relatively cool, as this gives a chance to explore the area in comfort. For anyone travelling during the summer months, expect to see temperatures rise to 45°C at their peak, with even the sea temperature hitting 40°C around this time. Mix this with humidity levels higher than a rainforest and extreme UV levels and you'll probably be getting the idea.
The beaches in Dubai are world class, but not content with the fine golden sands which surround the city, they have imported trendy white sands from Algeria to coat the beaches. This, along with the blue skies and high temperatures all year round means it is a popular choice amongst Brits.
Holidays in Dubai are perfect for sun worshippers and those looking for an exotic break, and top the charts of United Arab Emirates holidays. For the cheapest Dubai holidays try a price comparison website.
