Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda is by far the best place to visit in Uganda. It is situated at the extreme end of western Uganda bordering Congo. It is a neighbour to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga National Parks and to Rwenzori National Park which is famous for mountaineering in the whole of Africa.
Back to Queen Elizabeth national park. This is a park that has a high concentration of wildlife and birdlife in the whole of western region. Unlike in Kenya and Tanzania where you are 100 people looking at one lion, in this park it is the reverse. Guided by the game rangers in Queen Elizabeth National Park, you can be able to meet as many as 10 lions you and your ranger alone. The most astonishing part of this park is that, it is only on this park that one can find climbing lions. And for that matter everybody is waking up early to go and look at these carnivores still in their sleep and I think that’s why these safari lodges are always full.
With the constant flow of tourists to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the accommodation facilities in this park are said to be the best in the whole of western region. In the centre of this park is Mweya Safari Lodge which a 5 star hotel.Supported by the visitors who flock to this place, one can’t miss to call this place a “heaven on earth”. Across the Kazinga Channel, there is another safari lodge called Jakana Safari Lodge which is inside the jungle... A stay at this lodge will make you forget your home if you are a jungle man.If you want to visit these lodges, you need to book in advance otherwise you may miss your share of kid pampering at Mweya and Jacana Safari Lodges.
Having been in tourism for long time, I know that there are those who like touring on a squeezed budget; Queen Elizabeth caters for those too. There is a hostel near Mweya Safari Lodge for those who travel on a budget. These people have the right to visit the bar and the restaurant at Mweya and still share the tranquility of this place. If you are like me who is always on a budget travel, you just go for the hostel and still enjoy the scent of Queen Elizabeth National Park Accommodations.Queen Elizabeth National Park is near the town of Katwe which is famous for salt mining in Uganda. If one finds that he she can’t manage the expense of the 5 star lodges inside the park, he/ she can book for a room in this town which is 5 kilometers from the gate of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Another place to accommodate yourself when you visit Queen Elizabeth National Park is Kasese Town In Uganda. Kasese town hotels are of the high class as far as tourism in Uganda is concerned. In this town we have Margarita Hotel which is one of the 5 star hotel in Kasese town. This hotel have been working as the best alternative for visitors to Queen Elizabeth National Park who like to stay in town and enjoy the Kasese town blight lights.
Kasese town is also a good destination for visitors to Mountain Rwezori National Park which is a neighbour to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Mountain Rwenzori is famous for mountaineering and most visitors to this park come specifically for that. Mountaineering to this mountain mostly known as the “Mountain of the Moon”, takes 6 to 7 days and for that matter accommodation for travelers and visitors to these place is always at high standard. In conclusion therefore, any visitor to Queen Elizabeth National Park shouldn’t worry you because depending on your budget, you can’t miss to get you accommodation that matches your standard. You can either go for a 5 star Safari Lodge in Mweya and Jakana or in the budget hostel near Mweya Lodge. If you traveled on a budget , you can go to Katwe town which is composed of Bakonjo people and my be you can learn more about their culture.
If you want to see the town blight lights then you need to go to Kasese town which is some 30 kilometers from the main gate. Hope this article will help you to enjoy your accommodation in and around Queen Elizabeth National Park.
