Marbella property

Marbella property - what is happening?
Over the years Marbella has gone from a small fishing village to a luxury resort, and in general a Marbella property, being it a luxury villa or a large penthouse apartment, will cost a premium. Marbella property is considered to be a safe investment, as most of the Northern Europeans prefer Marbella property over any other town in Europe. Mainly due to the climate, proximity to the beach, health system and a well developed infrastructure.

Not all is legal in Marbella
The change for Marbella has happened in a short period, and it is mainly accedited to former mayor Jesus Gil. He came in with a plan to transform the village into what it is today. Costa del Sol has seen much of the same happening, but only in Marbella has it been under strict control and planning. The plans of Jesus Gil were not always in line with Junta de Andalucia, to say the least. The personal fortune of Jesus Gil grew at an unprecedented speed, and the same happened for all in good positions in the mayor's office. The Marbella property value increased at the same time. The police were constantly after the mayor's office, and after the death of Jesus Gil, the case broke wide open.
Building permits were given to construction companies on the basis of how much they could offer to the mayor's friends. Many have been sent to prison.

The consequences for properties in Marbella
Today a new mayor is in place, and much has been cleaned. Marbella had no money, but is now coming back. The properties in Marbella are still being investigated, and some apartment developments have been closed by the local police pending investigation. The clean-up has not ended yet, but the properties are now again beeing traded, as the illegal properties are being fined, and in some serious cases hotel developments in proteced areas are considered for demolishment.

The price for a Marbella property
Marbella is one of the most expensive places to buy a property. However Marbella property values are still somewhat lower than that of a similar property in France. The urbanisations in Marbella are well kept, and maintained to a higher standard than most other places on Costa del Sol. A good sized villa can be bought for € 1.5 - 3 million Euros, but it is not uncommon to find a Marbella property for € 10 - 20 million Euros.

The future for Marbella
Marbella is the centre for the Costa del Sol jet-set. The building scandals are more or less over, and the involved parties have been fined or sentenced to jail. It all sounds quite evil and wild, but in Marbella this was "business as usual". People are still happy for what Jesus Gil did for the town, and they are forgiving about the large amounts of money he pulled out for hemself and his friends. The town is still a lovely place, and life goes on...
A marbella property will always be a gem!
